It has been a true joy to meet so many unique and wonderful individuals throughout my career. I am excited to learn something new every day. I enjoy getting to know people and hope to make the orthodontic process an easy and pleasant one for everyone.

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree – University of Iowa
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Iowa
  • Master of Science in dentistry – University of Pittsburgh
  • Certificate in orthodontics – University of Pittsburgh

I am a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists.  For over a decade, I was involved in the Contemporary Dental Forum, a branch of the Seattle Study Club. This group of general dentists and dental specialists meets every month to review current research and trends in all fields of dentistry, and collaborates often on cases that require multiple aspects of dentistry.

This enables me to look at patients in my practice with not only my orthodontic knowledge, but also with the insight of ways to approach complicated situations, and be able to refer to others for specific dental needs. It was my honor to be voted as one of the 2016 Top Area Dental Specialists by my peers.

Professional Motivation

I wanted to be an orthodontist ever since fifth grade, when I had braces and saw my own smile transformed. I wanted to be able to create that same feeling of confidence and pride in other people.

Although I have been practicing orthodontics for more than 25 years, I still get enjoyment from watching a smile transform into something even more beautiful. I feel that everyone deserves to be proud of their smile. We cater to children with dental fears and to those with special needs.

My staff and I take pride in making everyone feel welcome. The atmosphere is very warm and spa-like in the office, and the staff is warm and friendly.

Unlike most orthodontic offices that have an open bay concept, we treat patients in individual rooms. Each patient will have their adjustment appointments done in a private setting, with one assistant for the entire appointment. This enables the assistant to focus on the patient without distractions.

Outside the Office

I grew up in Arlington Heights, a northwest suburb of Chicago. After completing my orthodontic training, I moved back to Chicago. I settled in Woodridge for several years.

Then when I started a family, I wanted to move to Naperville for their wonderful sense of community. I have lived in Naperville for almost two decades and have three wonderful children. Katie has graduated from Marquette University with a doctorate degree in physical therapy. Matthew has graduated high school and is very creative in music production and photography; you can see some of his photos on my office walls.  Samantha is in high school and spend her free time playing guitar or piano, or upcycling clothing with her sewing machine.

The entire family is in love with our dog, Jake. He is a schnoodle — a mix of Poodle and Schnauzer — and he is the highlight of our day.

I enjoy working out a few times a week, reading a book for our neighborhood book club, and going to see live music or musical theater. I also like to getting out on my bicycle or going for long walks when time allows.
